EFA condemns Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, which could have devastating effects

EFA condemns Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, which could have devastating effects. The European Free Alliance urges the EU to act accordingly to its values and principles and to do its utmost to foster diplomacy, dialogue, mediation, and a return to the Minsk Agreements. To avoid civilian bloodshed, Russia, Ukraine, the EU and the US must act by sitting and negotiating immediately to stop the military escalation and the use of warfare.

The European Free Alliance supports targeted economic sanctions against Russia so as not to impose additional suffering on the Russian population. EFA is also conscious of the deep concerns that these actions raise in the Baltic and Nordic countries, and calls for the respect of geostrategic and political balances.

As stated in our Manifesto, EFA strongly advocates for “Peace and Freedom for Europe, the right to self-determination and the unconditional respect of the dignity of people and respect for human rights”. EFA believes that Europe’s borders can be changed, but never through threat, coercion, or military invasion – only based on democratic processes and political agreements.
