Ålandic MP Harry Jansson, new EFA individual member

The European Free Alliance welcomes a new individual member to the organisation. Harry Jansson, MP of the Parliament of the Åland Islands, was approved as a new member by the EFA Bureau, which met last Tuesday in the European Parliament in Brussels. With this new incorporation, EFA strengthens its commitment to strive for the right to self-determination of the Åland Islands. The Baltic Islands were historically represented in the party by our member party Ålands Framtid. The cooperation between Ålands Framtid and Harry Jansson MP is an opportunity to have an EFA voice in the Ålandic self-governing institutions.

Harry Jansson has been a member of the Åland Parliament since 2007. During the mandate 2019-2023, He was Deputy Head of the Åland Government and Minister of Administrative and Municipal Affairs. Today, he is a member of the Self-Government Policy Committee and the Chairman of the Law and Culture Committee. He is also the chair of the Åland UNESCO Committee. “It is very important for all stateless people including the Åland Islands to seek cooperation and to inspire each other”, said Jansson during his speech to the EFA Bureau.
