EFA to gather in Naoned to further strengthen the voice of self-determination in Europe

The General Assembly will renew the direction of the party and debate the key issues currently shaping the EU

The European Free Alliance is on a mission to keep strengthening the voice of self-determination in the European Union. With this goal, all EFA members will gather in Naoned (Brittany) from 8 to 10 May to celebrate the party’s annual General Assembly.

This event, to be held at La Cité des Congrès in Naoned, will be the first time EFA member parties meet since last year’s European elections. The campaign led EFA to visit many nations, regions, and corners of the EU with a clear message: “Democracy and diversity in a Europe for all”. Now, with the determination of all those who pushed EFA along this journey, the party will meet to tackle the main challenges that the EU is currently facing, acknowledging all the territorial and regional dimensions.

A new EFA Bureau

The event will include two internal days, where EFA members will discuss and debate behind closed doors, and a public day. During the meeting, EFA delegates will vote for a new party Direction, which must be renewed after 3 years of service. The newly elected Bureau will be publicly presented, and the President will deliver a speech during the public event that will take place on Saturday, 10th of March from 11:30 in the same venue.

Naoned, the historical capital of Brittany

The location of the event was purposely chosen. EFA cares about all European peoples and about protecting regional and national identities, cultures, and languages. The case of Brittany clearly illustrates how an EU member state seeks to erase its regional identities. Naoned, long considered the historical capital of Brittany, has been excluded from the region by today’s French territorial framework. Instead, it was torn away and placed within the Pays de la Loire region, resulting in a completely unnatural territorial division in the French state. EFA, together with this year’s host party Union Démocratique Bretonne, want to raise the issue and claim that Naoned is Brittany and that the historical territorial divisions must be respected!
