Saharawi people rights are Human Rights!

40 Saharawi people are currently trapped in Adolfo Suárez Airport in Madrid. The Spanish government denied them asylum, and they are in danger of being deported to Morocco. This situation has set the alarms of EFA, the European political party of self-determination, since a European member state is about to violate the human rights of asylum seekers and send them to a country that oppresses them.

Being aware of the situation, EFA MEP Ana Miranda went this afternoon to Adolfo Suárez Airport in representation of EFA Party to check on the situation of the asylum seekers and support their cause. “Denying asylum to these people is condemning them to a terrible situation if they are sent back to Morroco. The EU has to stand for human rights, including the right of asylum seekers, and protect them from the oppression of undemocratic regimes”, said Ana Miranda MEP.

Some of those trapped in Madrid are families of Saharawi people who have already obtained asylum in other EU countries. According to the Spanish newspaper El País, between the victims there is the daughter of Aaicha El Talbe, whose asylum right was recognised in France. Meanwhile, she is being denied her right in the Spanish state even though they have presented the same documentation. The EU member countries should act in coordination for receiving Saharawi refugees and set standards of Human rights protection that are followed by all the member countries.
