‘Lawfare: Judicialisation of politics’ high-level conference at the EP

Within the current scenario in which judicial structures are being used for the persecution of opponents by governments worldwide, the aim of this hearing is to highlight the ‘Lawfare’ concept and phenomenon from a first-hand perspective, from those who have faced (and still do) persecution, those who represent a problem, as well as from the judicial approach from their lawyers.

The conference, which will take place at the European Parliament in Brussels on 19 February, is organised by Greens/EFA MEPs among others. The event will have two panels:

Personalities who suffer from persecution, with the testimony of, among others, Manuel Zelaya, former President of Honduras, Carles Puigdemont, former President of Catalonia and MEP, and Arnaldo Otegi, Secretary General of EH Bildu.

“Lawfare” from a judicial perspective, in which lawyers of the aforementioned personalities will give a judicial perspective of their case, offering a perspective of the judicial framework to which their defenders have been subjected.

There will be EN-ES interpretation
